    IRON CROSS – 1914 – 2nd CLASS – ORIGINAL PRESENTATION CASE This is a 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class in its original presentation case, which sports an unusual, arched-pentagon shape. The case measures 3 ½” x 3 ½” at the widest width, and 2 ½” x 3/4″ at its smallest. The black case is embossed with an Iron Cross’s image. The interior is white, with its silk-lined top stamped in blue with an Iron Cross and the words “Der Dank des Vaterlandes!” (The thanks of the Fatherland!). Its bottom is velvet-lined and molded to accommodate the Iron Cross. The 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class is inlaid with black paint, which rates at 100%. The Iron Cross is in great condition. NO chips are evident in the paint, and it displays very little wear. The jump ring is also intact. NO ribbon is included.

    IRON CROSS – 1914 – 2nd CLASS – ORIGINAL PRESENTATION CASE This is a fascinating 1914 Iron Cross that comes in its original presentation case. The case is a most unusual white leatherette, which measures 3 3/4″ x 3″ x 1.” The high-quality Iron Cross sports excellent paint on both its obverse and reverse, which rates at 100%. The frame has a superb patina, and shows signs of being silver. No hallmarking is present on the jump ring. Inside the presentation case is a white silk upper lid. Attached to the silk liner is a piece of diagonally-stretched original ribbon. The case’s black-velvet lower half is fitted to accommodate the cross. Resting on the base is a small piece of shrapnel measuring 3/4″ x 3/4.” It must have had some sentimental attachment for its owner. (Perhaps he was wounded with it)? Although we will never know the answer, this remains a very fine presentation of a privately-purchased 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class.

    IRON CROSS – 1914 – 2nd CLASS – ORIGINAL PRESENTATION CASE This is a 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class. It is in fine condition. It is hallmarked “KO” on the jump ring. Many of the awarded 1st and 2nd Class Iron Crosses came from the Stuttgart firm. It comes in a black leatherette case that measures 3 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ x 3/4.” The case has the standard silk and velvet-lined upper and lower halves. A holder appears on the case’s upper half, but has no ribbon. This cased Iron Cross is value-priced.
