ANHALT – FRIEDRICH CROSS – 1914 – 2nd CLASS – COMBATANTS
Anhalt was a small Imperial German Principality. Our offering today is its Combatant’s Cross for True Service in the 2nd Class. The bronze-toned cross measures 1.5” x 1.5.” Its obverse displays Anhalt’s Prince Friedrich’s crowned royal cypher and the date 1914. It is the Principality’s 1914 Iron Cross equivalent. The decoration’s reverse displays the legend “For Service in War.”
The Combatant’s ribbon exhibits great age, but is correct. The decoration is in very fine condition. As it was a smaller state, the decoration was awarded in smaller numbers to its native sons, as well as other German and Austrian allies.
