Description
DUCHY OF NASSAU – LONG SERVICE AWARD – 1834 – 22 YEARS
This long service award is for 22 years (XXII) long and true service (TRUE DIENST LAHRE) and comes from the Duchy of Nassau. The decoration was given to NCO’s and enlisted men. This very small state gave a very limited number of decorations.
This decoration was first issued beginning in 1834 and continued through 1864. Like Hannover, Nassau was absorbed in 1866. Its independence was lost when it was absorbed by Prussia during the war with Austria.
This decoration is a minimum of 186 years old. Very few of them were ever awarded. The medal is in remarkably fine condition and retains its original wide, light blue ribbon.
This represents the very first decoration that we have ever offered from Nassau.
