This is a very early postcard that shows a German Taube that just shot down another monoplane. At the bottom of the postcard is “Besigt. Abstüzendes feindlisches Flugzeug.” This is a drawing or painting. The artist’s name is noted along with “A526,” the postcard number. The firm’s name is below it.
On the reverse we see that this is a Feldpostkarte. It was mailed through the military post system on 21 November 1917. The postcard is written in the purple grease pencil that was often used at the front. The postcard has two unit and Feldpostkarte stamps applied to it.
