This is an interesting for a young soldier from Flieger Ersatz Abteilung Nr 7. He was attached to Kompagnie Nr 3, located in Braunschweig. He entered the military in 1917. His was a training reserve unit that assembled men for the re-assignment to other locations at the front. We see that he served in numerous Prussian units, as well as a Saxon aviation unit.

This is a militärpaß for a Bavarian soldier from a Luftschiffer Ersatz Abteilung. The man’s name was Fischer. He was born in 1898. He joined the army in 1917 and was initially assigned to a Bavarian Luftschiffer Ersatz Abteilung. The militärpaß has a flip down page where you can see his complete service for nearly two years of WW I. In addition to numerous unit stamps from his initial unit, a stamp for his assignment to Feldluftschiffer-Abteilung Nr 1 is also present. A unit stamp for a Prussian Luftschiffer-Abteilung also appears, which I find particularly interesting. The militärpaß comes in a protective jacket. It has a wealth of material to research and dig into.

An attractively conditioned militärpaß to a soldier who was assigned to Kampfgeschwader 7 O.H.L. Staffel 38. August Eisenberg was born in 1896, and he entered the army in May 1916….
GERMANY – MILITÄRPAß – August Eisenberg – AVIATION
An attractively conditioned militärpaß to a soldier who was assigned to Kampfgeschwader 7 O.H.L. Staffel 38. August Eisenberg was born in 1896, and he entered the army in May 1916. He was first posted to Flieger-Ersatz Abteilung Nr 3 in Gotha in July 1916 (this unit stamp and signature of the commander is present). The unit stamp for Staffel 38 and the signature of the Staffelführer, a Hauptmann, is also present. Two other later units are indicated by stamp and they are Flieger Abteilung Nr 10 in Böblingen-Stuttgart in 1917 and Königl. Preuss Rüst-Abteilung fur Flieger-Waffen. The last entry that I can detect is August 1918.
A very well marked militärpaß to a soldier who spent his entire career in aviation units.
