HAMBURG – HANSEATIC CROSS – 1914
The three Free City states of the Hanseatic League consisted of Hamburg, Lübeck, and Bremen. All three awarded different variations of the Hanseatic Cross. These were considered to be 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class equivalents.
Hamburg was much larger than Lübeck or Bremen. Lübeck awarded the fewest number of the Hanseatic Cross and only 8,000-10,000 were awarded compared to 50,000 for Hamburg and 20,000 for Bremen.
The enamel of the decoration is un-chipped. There is a correct ORIGINAL ribbon attached.
