This is an incredible flat issue style 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class from the workshops of Godet, one of the house jewelers of Kaiser Wilhelm II.
The Iron Cross is in absolutely mint condition.
The paint is 100% and the beading of the frame is what you would expect from Godet.
The reverse is equally as attractive and shows a handsome swollen or coke bottle type pin which has a “G” for Godet on it.
This gorgeous 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class comes in a correct WW I presentation case.
It is of leatherette construction and has the gold outline of an Iron Cross on the lid. Inside we see a white silk upper half of the case while the bottom which is fitted for insertion of the Iron Cross is purple velvet.
A very elegant and desirable ensemble.
