Seldom do we see a Feldgrau mütze for an enlisted man in the Kaiserliche Marine. Far more common are the dark blue winter examples and the less commonly seen white summer examples.
This example is a very nice Feldgrau wool which is in superb condition and on which we can detect no mothing of any type whether it be nips, tracking, or blooms.
Around the center of the cap we see correctly and period tied a black silk cap tally which states “4. II. Werft-Division = 4. II. Werft-Division”. The final detail to the front of the cap is the correct Reichs kokarde which is attached.
The interior of the cap is lined in the same high quality Feldgrau wool. It is ink stamped depot issued for 1915. A very rare example of a seaman’s mütze.
