GERMANY – PATRIOTIC HORSESHOE – BRASS
This is a patriotic German horseshoe. The horseshow had a strong meaning of good luck. Even today in Germany, you will see horseshoes on cars.
But this is an oversized horseshow which is made of BRASS. There are four holes drilled into it for mounting.
On the surface of the horseshoe we see “Dampfventilk d. Lenz jektors Abt. IX.” I tried translating this on Goggle Translate and with a German friend and the best we can come up with that it represents a steam valve switch or device, possibly on a ship. The reference to Abteilung IX again refers to a military organization, perhaps an onboard or onshore work crew. On the reverse is the number “3535.”
This decorative item would look handsome mounted to the wall using small brass screws and a unique decorative touch to a den, library or office.
