Description
GERMANY – POSTCARD – GENERAL AUGUST VON MACKENSEN
August von Mackensen was one of the most effective generals of WW I. Ultimately being promoted to Generalfeldmarschall he would command the Eastern Front with the departure of von Hindenburg to the position of the Chief of the General Staff.
This postcard which shows von Mackensen as a general (Most likely before the beginning of WW I.) wearing a Litewka with his 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class on his tunic. He is also seen wearing the pickelhaube of a general officer as opposed to his more famous busby for a Husaren-Regiment. This postcard was mailed in 1915 but is in excellent condition.
