Germany – Postcard – Karl Friedrich Von Plettenberg – Autographed – PLM winner
General der Infanterie Karl Friedrich von Plettenberg (1852-1938) was a WW I General who until 1917 commanded the GardeKorps. During his early career, he participated in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 where he was awarded the 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class. He was awarded the Pour le Mérite in 1915 for the GardeKorps action on the Western Front. After being removed from his command he was returned to Kaiser Wilhelm II as his adjutant for the second time.
This autographed postcard shows von Plettenberg in uniform wearing his Pour le Mérite and the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. In looking at his shoulder board one can see his rank and the crowned cypher which confirms that he is the adjutant to Kaiser Wilhelm II. You can also see the empty sewn in loops for a very wide ribbon bar.
His signatue appears at the bottom of the postcard and on the reverse we see that the postcard was mailled to Paul Baer in 1920.
