Germany – Presentation Box – Iron Cross 1st Class
This NOT a period piece but was manufactured in more modern times. It is square in shape and rests on four claw feet. It appears to be made of brass or some other base metal with a gold toned coating.
Each side and the corners has a design of gold foil over cloth. The base of the case is leather or leatherette. The top of the box has a snap clip to hold the top in place. There is a rope design which goes around the edge. The top of the box has a beveled glass window where you can observe the Iron Cross within. The interior base is raised and has a deep red velvet material.
While this case is not period it does allow you to see your Iron Cross without opening the lid.
A fine way to display a loved Iron Cross at a cost not much above an original case if you can find one.
