Sanke card Nr 427 of Generalleutnant Ernst von Hoeppner (1860-1922). Von Hoeppner served in many roles within the army from staff positions to command positions. In 1916 he was appointed as the head of the Imperial German Air Service (Kommandierender General der Luftstreitkräfte) reporting directly to Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg.

In this role he combined all of the air services to his office. He retired in 1919 with the rank of General der Kavallerie. He would die of influenza in 1922.

This is a earlier pose of him wearing a Order of the Red Eagle with Oak Leaves and Swords. He was later awarded the Pour le Mérite. His name and title are on the card.

This card is in mint condition and has never been mailed.
