GERMANY – SANKE CARD – LEUTNANT ERWIN BÖHME – NR 502
Sanke card Nr 502 of Leutnant Erwin Böhme, one of the oldest pilots in the Imperial German Air Service. He is best remembered as the pilot who collided with Oswald Boelcke in October 1916. Eventually he would take over command of Jasta 2 and would win the pour le Mérite. But never lived to wear it.
He is seen in this photo seated in unform, sporting the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class, Prussian pilot badge, and a four place ribbon bar. One of the four decorations seen there is the Knights Cross with Swords of the Hohenzollern House Order.
There is some silvering to the edges of the card.
It has never been mailed.
