The silver-toned post WW I veterans’ medal features the Kyffhäuserdenkmal on its obverse. The medal measures 1 ¾” x 2.” It is attached to an original black and white ribbon that has been folded and secured into a two-inch length. Its reverse reads “Für Verdienst im Kriegervereins Wesen” (For Distinguished Service in War Veterans’ Organization).

This badge has the caption “Für den Wiederaufbau- München” (For the Restoration – Munich), along with a picture of the Frauenkirche’s two towers. The Roman Catholic Cathedral was built in the 15th and 16th Centuries. The cathedral suffered severe damage during WW II. The roof collapsed and one of the towers suffered severe damage. A major restoration effort began after the war and was carried out in several stages, the last of which came to an end in 1994 (Source: Wikipedia). This was issued for one of the earliest restoration efforts. It measures 1 9/16″ in diameter.
