This postcard is of Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin (1838-1917). The originator of airships in Germany, Graf von Zeppelin founded the company that bore his name. The obverse of the postcard sports a reproduction of his signature. The reverse shows that the postcard is for the benefit of the Zeppelin-Eckner Spende, which helped raise money for the company’s further efforts.

Max Ritter von Mulzer (1893-1916) was an early Bavarian ace. He served in FFA 62 along with Oswald Boelcke and Max Immelmann. He was awarded his PLM after eight victories in 1916. He was the first Bavarian to receive the PLM. He was killed in an airplane crash due to a structural failure in September 1916 with a total of ten victories. He was also knighted by Bavaria and carried the title of Max Ritter von Mulzer to his death. This pose shows him in a studio wearing a tunic similar to an ulanka. Prior to his transfer to the Air Service, he served in Chevaguler-Regiment Nr 8 who wore similar tunics. On his tunic he wears the PLM at his throat, the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class and the Bavarian Pilot Badge. The postcard was not mailed.

This postcard started life as one that would have been used for the Imperial Period’s (Kaiser Zeit) Air Mail. Mention of that fact has been blacked out. Instead, it was mailed as a postcard regarding German technical or engineering prowess.
It has been stamped with the date, 12 April 1938. A swastika appears on the stamp.
The date stamp is repeated at the top over a postage stamp that depicts von Hindenburg in profile. A message is on the reverse.

In this studio pose Wagner is seated wearing his schirmütze and black leather gloves. He is wearing a Prussian Army Pilot badge and the ribbon in his second button hole for the 1914 iron Cross 2nd Class. The postcard was not mailed.
