PRUSSIA – PICKELHAUBE / SPIKED HELMET – RESERVE OFFICER – LINE INFANTRY REGIMENT
This is a spike helmet better known as a pickelhaube for a line infantry regiment. It is for a Reserve Officer from the kingdom of Prussia.
The leather body of the helmet is of average condition. There is some cracking and a gouge or two to the surface. There is also some curling to the rear visor.
The brass wappen is the standard infantry design. On the lower portion of the Eagle we see a Reserve Officer cross. There is a general toning to the wappen. The other furniture of the pickelhaube is also brass and this includes the flat chinscales, trim (There is a bit of lifting to the trim on the back of the helmet.), base for the spike, officer stars, pearl ring, and spike. The final detail to the exterior are the State and Reich officer kokarden.
Turning to the interior, we see a well used leather sweatband. Further we see a well used silk liner which is partially detached from the leather sweatband, but which could be restitched. Under the silk liner we see that there are no double holes where the wappen is attached. Of the four nuts that secure the officer stars we see there is one mismatched nut.
This spike helmet is not quite the condition that we offer and because of that we offer it at a very special price.
