PRUSSIA – SHOOTING PRIZE – KAISER WILHELM II – 1907 – FOR ARTILLERY TROOPS
This is a 1907 Kaiser Wilhelm II shooting prize for artillery troops. On an annual basis Kaiser Wilhelm II sponsored a shooting prize which were awarded to units in the Infantry, Jäger, Artillery, and kaiserliche Marine. These awards consisted of a brass badge mounted on an oval blue and later feldgrau wool backgrounds. These awards were then sewn onto the sleeve of a tunic.
Our offering today is a shooting prize for the year 1907 and it is for a soldier in an artillery unit. On the brass badge itself we see the crossed canons for artillery instead of rifles for infantry. His laid over an oval patch of dark blue wool. There are some very small moth holes. The badge is secured to the patch.
Aside from the minimal mothing the brass of the badge is nicely preserved.
