Prussia – Tschapka – Officer – with Bushfeldzeichen and Fangschnur in Original Storage Carton
Prussian Ulanen Line-Officer’s Tschapka that comes with several wonderful parade accessories. It is NOT, however, in complete parade configuration because it lacks its cloth rabatte. It is correct for the following regiments: Westfälisches Ulanen-Regiment Nr 5, Thüringisches Ulanen-Regiment Nr 6, Ulanen-Regiment Graf zu Dohna Nr 8, Schleswig-Holsteinisches Ulanen-Regiment Nr 15, and Ulanen-Regiment Henning von Treffenfeld (Altmärkisches) Nr 16. [ONLY these five Prussian Ulanen Line-Regiments sported silver wappens, all the rest featured gold ones]. The helmet’s black body is in well-above-average condition, although some cracking and spidering appear on the wearer’s right. Another weak point appears near the wingtip. In addition to the silver-toned wappen, the front visor’s trim is silver. The wappen also features a correct officer’s open/voided crown. The correct, arched, chin scales are a contrasting gold.
Other of the exterior’s details include a correct, Prussian, officer’s feldzeichen, and a Reich Officer’s kokarde on the helmet’s right side. Its parade accessories are quite attractive. The officer’s white horsehair parade bush attaches via a small metal clip inserted into the helmet’s mortarboard. The correct Prussian officer’s “Fangschnur” (Cap Lines) is also present. The parade bush and Fangschnur are housed in the very difficult-to-locate storage carton, which measures 3” x 4″ x 17 ½.” The latter sports a manufacturer’s paper seal from the firm of Schröder & Frankel – Karlsruhe inside on the carton’s upper half. [Karlsruhe was located in the Grand Duchy of Baden]. The carton also displays a paper label that reads“Ulanen Fangschnur” on its outer surface.
The helmet’s interior displays a light-brown leather sweatband that is attached to a light-brown, ribbed-silk liner. NO double holes are visible under the silk liner, while all of the original hardware that holds the wappen in place is present. This is a very high-quality, almost complete Tschapka.
It is a consignment item.
