If you ever thought of seriously collecting Vivat Ribbons, we have an album that offers you the perfect way to display these ribbons. This is a custom album that was designed SPECIFICALLY for the Vivats. The album measures a massive 19 1/2″ x 14.” On the cover, we see the title “Vivatbänder aus großer Zeit. (Vivat Ribbons from a Greater Time)” It is very possibly a period WW I album. If it is not from the Great War Era, it dates no later than the 1920’s or 1930’s. As you look through the album, you will see it employs a unique method of securing the ribbons without harming them. A slide- through device exists at the top and the bottom, with inserts on either side of the ribbon for securing it. This arrangement will protect your Vivats from damage, yet allow you to enjoy them as you flip through the album. The first page has space for one of the over-sized Vivats. After that initial page, each of the other pages will hold three Vivats in a neat and orderly manner. [NOTE from the photographs following this description that we show you how each different page type looks with a Vivat present]. Special Offer!! Buy any TEN Vivats and you may have this custom album for $50.00!! This is a wonderful opportunity to start a collection of these interesting ribbons and to have the ideal way to preserve and display them.

Vivat ribbons were patriotic silk ribbons sold for the benefit of the German Red Cross. They measure 16″ x 2 ½,” and feature scenes saluting German royalty and military during WW I. Most that I have seen were produced during the early to midyears of the war. This example is white with red embossing. It celebrates the small cruiser S. M. S. Karlsruhe. Actually, two S. M. S. Karlsruhes existed. S. M. S. Karlsruhe I was commissioned in 1914 and blew up in Trinidad before the beginning of WW I. S. M. S. Karlsruhe II was commissioned in 1916 and was scuttled along with much of the German fleet at Scapa Flow in 1919. This ribbon features an eagle and kriegsflagge overarching the German fleet steaming at sea. Also included is a patriotic poem written by a man on board the vessel. Finally, at the bottom are a number of German flags crossed behind an anchor. At the bottom is a small date of 1914/1915, so this ribbon may well refer to S. M. S. Karlsruhe I.
