WÜRTTEMBERG – PICKELHAUBE / SPIKED HELMET – OFFICER – DRAGONER-REGIMENT NR 25

This is a finely conditioned officer spike helmet for Dragoner-Regiment Königin Olga (1. Württ.) Nr 25. This regiment was founded in 1813, was a garrisoned in Ludwigsberg, and was attached to the XIII. Armeekorps.

The leather body of the pickelhaube is quite nice and has only minor spidering. The body has a square front visor which we see in all Württemberg pickelhauben. The most significant feature of the exterior is a simply beautiful frosted silver officer wappen. The other furniture is indicative of a Dragoner pickelhaube. The helmet has a Prussian style Reich kokarde and a beautiful Württemberg pattern state kokarde.

Turning to the interior, we see a mint leather sweatband and an equally mint green (?) Silk liner. Under the silk liner we see all of the original hardware with the exception of one mismatched nut which secures one of the officer stars. There are no double holes where the wappen is attached and the hardware that secures it is all original.

This is a wonderful pickelhaube in top condition.
