Wurttemberg – Postcard – Herzog Albrecht Von
Herzog Albrecht von Württemberg (1865-1939) commanded the German IV Armee early during WW I Later his command was increased to Armee Gruppe Herzog Albrecht. He was promoted to the rank of Generalfeldmarschall in August 1916. He was an able military commander on the Western Front. He was awarded the Orden Pour le Mérite on 22 August 1915 and was later awarded the Orden Pour le Mérite with Oak Leaves on 25 February 1918. While not a son of King Wilhelm of Württemberg he began head of the house of Württemberg in 1921 with the passing of King Wilhelm.
