The Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19 was a cavalry regiment that served in the German Army during World War I. Raised in 1791 and garrisoned in Grimma, Saxony, it was one of the oldest regiments in the German Army, and had a rich and proud history of service.
During World War I, the regiment was attached to the XIX. Armeekorps, a corps-level command of the German Army. The XIX. Armeekorps played a vital role in the Battle of the Marne, which was one of the largest and most significant battles of the war. The Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19 saw action in many battles during the war, including the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Verdun, and the Battle of Tannenberg. They were known for their bravery and tenacity in battle and received many honors for their service.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19 is its uniform, particularly the Leutnant’s parade attila that we recently acquired. The tunic is light-blue and adorned with magnificent silver tresses and frogging, which sport a tasty patina. The collar and cuff's bullion tape also have a patina, and the collar's bullion extends to the collar's reverse. Ten rosette-style buttons adorn the tunic front, with five toggle buttons securing the tunic when buttoned. Two sewn-in shoulder boards mark the tunic for a Leutnant, and each displays green chevrons, confirming they are from Saxony. The tunic's reverse continues the same tresses' theme as on the front, with two additional barrel buttons adorning the vent area.
While the tunic has a bit more mothing than we would normally offer, it has a fascinating history that makes it a great addition to any collection. The Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19 played an important role in many battles during World War I, and this Leutnant's parade attila is a tangible reminder of the regiment's bravery and service.
In conclusion, the Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19 was a proud and distinguished cavalry regiment that served with distinction during World War I. Its history is a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the men who served in the regiment, and the Leutnant's parade attila is a beautiful and unique piece of that history. We are honored to offer this tunic for sale, and we hope that it will find a new home where it can be appreciated and cherished for many years to come.
