Bronze commemorative badge issued to honor those killed during the failed Austrian Nazi coup attempt of 25 July 1934, known as the July Putsch. The front reads “Ewig bleibt der Toten Tatenruhm” (“Eternal remains the glory of the dead”), with the date 25. Juli 1934–1938 below. This phrase reflected the martyr cult surrounding the Austrian National Socialist movement between 1934 and the Anschluss of 1938.

The badge was worn by sympathizers and participants of the early Austrian Nazi underground, often produced in small workshops before and after the annexation of Austria by Germany. Its simple construction—a struck bronze disk with integral pinback—was typical of political remembrance pieces of the period.

Diameter: approx. 30 mm. Bronze finish with naturally aged patina. Reverse fitted with period wire pin.

Condition: Very fine, honest wear, original dark bronze tone intact.
Historical Note: These badges were distributed or worn unofficially by early Austrian National Socialists to commemorate the coup attempt that resulted in the assassination of Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuß. Surviving examples remain scarce due to postwar suppression of Austrian Nazi symbols.
