General der Kavallerie Eugen von Falkenhayn (1853-1934), the brother of Prussian War Minister Erich von Falkenhayn, was a highly decorated officer in the Imperial German Army. Known for his strategic acumen and leadership, he served in various field and staff roles. Prior to WWI, he was a tutor to two of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s sons, showcasing his respected position within the military. Retiring in 1910, he was called back to service at the outbreak of WWI, where he commanded the XXII Reserve Armeekorps throughout the war.

Von Falkenhayn was awarded the Orden Pour le Mérite in August 1915 and the Oak Leaves in November 1915 for his exceptional service. This autographed postcard, a charcoal sketch, depicts him with the Pour le Mérite at his throat. The reverse is dated 27 September 1919, featuring a dedication and his bold signature in black ink.
