This is the rare Swedish-language edition of Jack D. Hunter’s celebrated World War I aviation novel The Blue Max, published under the title Blå Max by Folket i Bilds Förlag. This hardcover book is complete with its original illustrated dust jacket, featuring dramatic combat art by Thord Sundquist, and retains its vintage price mark on the rear flap (12.50 SEK). The book’s exterior shows only minor shelf wear and edge crinkling to the jacket.
Originally released in 1964, The Blue Max tells the story of Bruno Stachel, a lower-class German pilot during WWI whose relentless ambition and psychological complexity drive him toward the prestigious Pour le Mérite (known colloquially as the “Blue Max”). This foreign edition retains the novel’s signature focus on honor, identity, and moral conflict in the air war over Europe.
The Swedish synopsis on the rear describes a cast of tormented characters, including Heidemann the coldly professional pilot, Kettering the disillusioned philosopher, and Kluggermann the archetypal aristocrat, alongside Stachel’s manipulative mistress. The translation preserves Hunter’s layered exploration of ambition, war, and self-destruction.
A must-have for collectors of international war literature, aviation fiction, and Jack D. Hunter translations. This edition is rarely found outside Scandinavia.

Very good. Clean binding with light wear to corners. Dust jacket shows moderate edge wear and a few small tears, but remains bright and intact. Interior pages are clean, with tight binding.
