This silver hallmarked 900 table medal was crafted by the Carl Poellath firm in Bavaria's Schrobenhausen. The firm was known for producing superior quality badges for the Bavarian division of the Imperial German Air Service. In this instance, the firm created a table medal for the Handelskammer of the Duchy of Braunschweig. The medal is approximately 2 1/4" in diameter and may be composed of nickel or German silver. The obverse side of the medal features the Braunschweig Stallion rearing on his shield in the medal's center, garnished with oak leaves on the top, left, and right. The inner edge of the coin bears the inscription "Handelskammer F.D. Herzogt. Braunschweig-Für Treue Mitarbeit (Chamber of Commerce Duchy of Braunschweig - For Faithful Employment)," indicating that the medal was likely presented to retiring members of the Chamber in gratitude for their service.

The reverse side of the medal showcases a highly detailed relief of a municipal building from the Imperial German period, which was likely the Chamber's location. The Latin motto "Quod Tibi Hoc Alteri (Do to others what you want done to you)" appears beneath the structure. The medal comes in an attractive maroon presentation case, measuring 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" square, with the title "Handelskammer für das Herzogtum Braunschweig" on the front. The upper lid of the case is white silk with the name "Carl Poellath" and "Schrobenhausen" printed in black ink. The lower half of the case is covered in blue velvet, with a circular cutout for the medal. Overall, this is a well-made, substantial, and visually pleasing piece.

The Handelskammer, also known as the Chamber of Commerce, was an organization that existed in various regions throughout Germany, including the Duchy of Braunschweig. Its primary purpose was to represent and support the interests of local businesses and merchants. The Handelskammer of the Duchy of Braunschweig was likely responsible for promoting trade, providing business services, and advocating for the interests of the region's commercial enterprises. The awarding of the table medal described in the product description was likely a way for the Chamber to honor and recognize the contributions of its members to the local business community.
