Behold the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class, a stunning military decoration that represents bravery and honor. Dating back to World War I, this cross is a piece of history that is not only significant but also valuable to collectors and history enthusiasts alike.
The Iron Cross is in mint condition, exhibiting 100% of its original paint on both the obverse and reverse sides. It comes in a rectangular faux crocodile presentation case, with a fitted gray velvet interior. The upper lid features a gray silk lining imprinted with a 1914 Iron Cross within a wreath.
The fitted space in the lower half of the case is where the Iron Cross fits snugly into place, along with a replacement ribbon . Attached to the ribbon is a 1914 spange, and has an enameled 1914 Iron Cross mounted onto a pebbled surface. The spange is marked .800 silver and adds a unique touch to the overall presentation.
It should be noted that during the Third Reich period, a ribbon and spange like this would have been used to denote that the wearer had won his Iron Cross 2nd Class during WWI, by attaching it to a buttonhole on their tunic. This piece truly captures the essence of history.
