This Army Wound Badge in Gold is a remarkable piece of military memorabilia that offers a unique insight into the experiences and preferences of its original owner. The pin on the reverse of the badge has been intentionally removed, and two small holes have been drilled at the top and bottom of the badge. This modification allowed the badge to be sewn onto the owner's tunic, rather than pinned on. As a result, the badge has a darker bronze color, which adds to its character and historical significance.

The German Army Wound Badge was first introduced during World War I to recognize the sacrifice and bravery of soldiers who were wounded in combat. The badge was awarded in three levels - Black, Silver, and Gold - depending on the severity of the wounds sustained. The Gold level was the highest and was awarded to soldiers who had been wounded five or more times, or who had suffered a severe or crippling injury.

Der Rittmeister Militaria is proud to offer a wide range of Imperial German and WWI badges, including Army Wound badges, Navy badges, Veterans badges, shooting prizes, commemorative badges, Red Cross pins, and anniversary badges. Many of these badges are rare and highly sought after by collectors, and each one offers a unique window into the history and culture of the time.
