This is a very fine example of an original Imperial German enlisted man’s belt and buckle set, featuring a gilt-finished "Gott Mit Uns" buckle paired with a matching brown leather belt. The buckle retains much of its original gilt wash and features a silvered wreath around the central emblem — a less commonly encountered configuration than the standard silver-toned version issued to line infantry.

This two-tone pattern (gilt roundel with silver wreath) has been documented in use by Imperial Naval Infantry (Seebataillon) and Colonial Troops during the late Imperial period, particularly among enlisted ranks serving in overseas territories. While this example is unmarked and cannot be definitively assigned to a specific branch, its design strongly suggests suitability for such troops.

The accompanying brown leather belt is complete and in solid condition, showing appropriate age and use. It measures approximately [insert measurement if known], and the stitching remains intact. A faint interior stamp appears present, but it is illegible in its current state and cannot confirm depot or unit issue.

This piece comes from a longtime private collection and is a desirable addition for collectors focused on the Imperial Navy, colonial campaigns, or non-standard uniform components of the Kaiserreich. It remains priced very fairly for the quality and potential branch association of the buckle.

  • Belt Material: Leather, approximately 32 inches in length. The leather shows signs of wear and aging, typical of vintage military belts. The stitching is intact but shows some fraying.
  • Buckle Material: The buckle is metal, likely made of steel or another durable alloy, with a central design featuring the phrase "GOTT MIT UNS" surrounding a crowned emblem. The buckle exhibits some patina and oxidation, indicating its age.
  • Condition: The belt is in fair condition with notable wear, especially on the buckle which has some surface rust and discoloration. The leather is worn but intact, with some cracking and softness due to age.

Historical Context: The phrase "GOTT MIT UNS" (God with us) was a common motto used by German military forces, particularly during the Imperial German era and continuing through both World Wars. The crowned emblem suggests it could be from the Imperial German period, likely around WWI.
