This is an original cap tally from the S.M.S. Kronprinz, one of the Imperial German Navy’s König-class battleships. The tally, measuring approximately 1 meter in length, features bold white lettering embroidered on a black silk ribbon. The ship's name, "S.M.S. KRONPRINZ," stands for Seiner Majestät Schiff Kronprinz, translating to "His Majesty's Ship Crown Prince."
The S.M.S. Kronprinz was commissioned in 1914, serving as a formidable presence in the Kaiserliche Marine during World War I. She was notable for her participation in the Battle of Jutland (1916) and other naval operations. After the war, she was interned at Scapa Flow with the rest of the High Seas Fleet and ultimately scuttled in 1919.
