This original German-language edition of Jagd in Flanderns Himmel (“Hunting in the Skies over Flanders”) offers a vivid account of the 16 most intense months of World War I service by Jagdgeschwader Freiherr von Richthofen Nr. 1—known more famously as “The Flying Circus.” Compiled from the unit’s wartime records and the personal notes of its adjutants, including Oberleutnant Bodenschatz, this volume traces the meteoric rise of Germany’s most renowned air unit under the legendary Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen.

Of historical note is the introductory foreword by Hermann Göring, who succeeded Richthofen in command of the squadron following the Baron’s death in 1918. The book provides an important early attempt to preserve the aerial legacy of the First World War from a German perspective, featuring the full Kriegstagebuch (war diary) of the unit alongside rare photos printed on dedicated plates.

Physical Condition:
Softcover with striking cover artwork featuring Richthofen’s Fokker Dr.I triplane. The book shows moderate edge and corner wear, including surface creasing, minor loss at the spine ends, and age toning to the back cover. Binding is intact and internal pages appear clean with period patina.
