This is an excellent example of the Prussian Officer’s Long Service Cross (Dienstauszeichnungskreuz), awarded for 25 years of commissioned service under King Friedrich Wilhelm III.

The decoration is a finely struck gilt cross, with the obverse showing the crowned royal cypher “FW III” (Friedrich Wilhelm III, King of Prussia, r. 1797–1840). The reverse is inscribed with “XXV”, denoting 25 years of loyal service.

It retains its original deep blue silk ribbon, which shows expected age toning near the top where it was once affixed to a uniform bar. The gilt finish on the cross remains bright, with only minor wear consistent with age. Overall, this is a very well-preserved example.

These crosses were worn with pride by Prussian officers who had completed a full quarter century of active duty, and they represent one of the classic long service awards of the pre- and early Imperial period.

Condition: Very fine, with excellent gilt finish and original ribbon intact.
