Prussia Pickelhaube / Spiked Helmet for Officer in Line Infanterie with Transport Case
SKU: 04-589 XRH
This is a Prussian line infantry officer's pickelhaube, dating back to the pre-war period of 1900-1910. It boasts a high-quality leather body with some minor surface imperfections, most notably on the left side but with no loss of leather. The helmet's furniture, including the wappen, chinscales, base, officer stars, spike, back strap, and front visor trim, are all made of brass. The correct Reich and state kokarden are also in place. The interior of the helmet features a dark brown leather sweatband showing normal wear, as well as a gold smooth silk liner. All original hardware is present and the helmet is marked with a size of 58 3/4, which is larger than the typical size of 52-54. A transport case is also included, which is in excellent condition with both the top handle/strap and side strap and buckle in place. The case's interior is lined with a handsome rough blue silk, and is marked with the officer's name "Thum" and the 11th Infantry Regiment in which he served. This is a unique find, as it is a larger size helmet, comes with a complete transport case, and is identified to the original owner, offering an opportunity for further research.
