Collectors seeking an authentic piece of Imperial German military history will appreciate this outstanding Prussian Model 1910 Feldrock, tailored for a sergeant of Infantry Regiment 807. This tunic exemplifies the transitional period of the German Army on the eve of the First World War, combining classic Prussian design with regimental distinction.
Physical Attributes:
The Feldrock is constructed from field-grey wool, featuring a stand-and-fall collar with black and gold Litzen, denoting Prussian origin and NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) status. The red piping along the front closure, collar, cuffs, and rear skirt highlights the tunic’s infantry designation. Both shoulder boards are made of red wool with yellow embroidered regimental number “807” and the flaming grenade device, confirming assignment to Infantry Regiment 807—a unit raised during wartime expansion. The tunic is adorned with silvered pebbled buttons, all of which appear original and correctly matched. The cuffs and rear skirt are finished with additional Prussian NCO tresse, and the left breast retains a period Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon, a classic field-worn detail.
Historical Context and Regiment Information:
Infantry Regiment 807 was formed in 1914 as part of the massive mobilization for the Great War, drawing men from the Prussian provinces. The Model 1910 Feldrock was the standard service tunic for the Imperial German Army, and this example reflects the regulations for NCOs, including the metallic tresse and regimental insignia. Such tunics were worn on campaign and in garrison, and surviving examples with clear regimental identification are increasingly scarce.
Condition:
The tunic remains in very good condition for its age, with strong color retention and minimal mothing. There are a few small moth holes visible on the front and rear panels (see detailed photos), but these do not detract from the overall presentation. The insignia, buttons, and tresse are all intact and original to the piece. The Iron Cross ribbon shows honest period wear. No major repairs or alterations are evident, and the tunic retains its original lining.
Provenance:
This Feldrock comes from a private collection and has not been restored or modified. All insignia and components are period and original to the tunic.
Pricing Justification:
Given its regimental specificity, NCO status, and overall originality, this Feldrock represents a highly desirable example for the advanced collector. Comparable tunics with clear regimental markings and NCO insignia are seldom encountered on the market, especially in this condition. The price reflects its rarity, completeness, and historical significance.
