This Für fünfzigjährige Dienstreue (For Fifty Years of Loyal Service) medal was issued in the Kingdom of Saxony to recognize individuals for half a century of dedicated service. It was most commonly awarded to civil servants and long-serving employees within government institutions or royal service.

Design Features

  • Obverse: Features a crowned "F" monogram, representing King Friedrich August III of Saxony, encircled by a laurel wreath.
  • Reverse: Bears the inscription “Für fünfzigjährige Dienstreue” (For Fifty Years of Loyal Service), surrounded by an oak wreath, a traditional Germanic symbol of endurance and steadfastness.
  • Ribbon: The green and white striped ribbon is characteristic of Saxon decorations, as these were the colors of the Kingdom of Saxony.

Condition & Authenticity

  • The medal exhibits a natural patina, indicative of its authenticity and age.
  • The ribbon shows signs of wear and fading but remains intact, suggesting it was either worn or stored for a prolonged period.
  • The sharp details on the engravings add to its collectible value, particularly for those interested in Imperial German awards and Saxon military or civil history.

Collector’s Value & Display

This long-service award is less common than its 25-year counterpart, making it a highly desirable item among collectors of Saxon and Imperial German medals. It would be an excellent addition to a collection focused on:

  • Imperial German Orders & Decorations
  • Saxon Kingdom Awards
  • Long-Service & Civil Decorations

It is best displayed alongside other Saxon or German medals from the late 19th to early 20th century, possibly mounted in a shadow box or framed with historical documentation.
