Our offering is a superb Offizier’s Königl. Sächs 1. Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr 100 Pickelhaube from the Kingdom of Saxony. This pickelhaube belongs to one of the elite Infanterie Regiments of the Imperial German Army, known for their exceptional performance in the field. While it may not be as ostentatious as some other pickelhauben, it exudes an understated elegance.

The leather body of the helmet is in excellent condition, with a supple and handsome appearance. The wappen consists of a silver sunburst with Saxony’s golden Coat-of-Arms at its center, which is the opposite of Saxon Line-Regiments’ golden sunburst against a silver Coat-of-Arms. The furniture is all silver, including the flat chin scales, spike base, officers’ stars, and trim. The helmet comes with a straight, silver trichter and a full and beautiful parade bush that has been mounted on it. The bush is very full and flows over all four sides of the helmet. The Saxon-pattern State’s and Reich’s kokarden complete the final details on the exterior.

The interior of the helmet features a lightly-used brown leather sweatband with white cross stitching at its upper end. Attached to that sweatband is a rust-colored, ribbed-silk liner. There are a couple of small "wear" spots on the silk liner. All of the correct hardware is present, with no double holes where the wappen is mounted. This is an honest and original helmet that is in excellent condition, and a prized addition to any collection.

Other elite regiments that also boasted unique pickelhauben include the 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß (Prussia), Infanterie-Regiment Nr 92 (Braunschweig), 1. Badisches Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr 109 (Baden), Leibgarde-Infanterie-Regiment (1. Großherzogl. Hessisches) Nr 115 (Hesse-Darmstadt), Grenadier-Regiment Königin Olga (1. Württembergisches) Nr 119 (Württemberg), and Infanterie-Leib-Regiment (Bavaria).
